The movement of the eye, head or body can also lead to poor quality images due to a decorrelation over the entire B-scan referred to as motion artefacts, (8) these can produce shearing distortions and/or gaps in the
enface image.
On the '3D
enface' images of the glenoidcavity, the glenoid cavity superior-inferior length (12 o'clock-6 o'clock) was measured.
Using a commercially available OCT instrument, we have previously reported and validated methods for generating
enface thickness maps and reflectance images of individual retinal layers from a high-density raster of OCT B-scan images and demonstrated alterations at different stages of DR [25-27].
The following scanning protocol was used: (1) wide-field 12 mm x 9 mm scan; (2) ganglion cell complex (GCC) measurements were obtained by the MM7 protocols, which covered 7 mm x 7 mm scan area centered on the fovea; (3) 3D scan centered on the optic disc, and the peripapillary RNFL thickness was measured automatically by the previous OCT software; and (4)
enface OCT angiography scans acquired over a 3 mm x 3 mm area over the macula and a 4.5 mm x 4.5 mm area over the optic disc using five repeated B-scans at 216 raster positions, with each B-scan consisting of 216 A-scans.
The information about the drusenoid area can be better assessed by creating OCT fundus images as an
enface projection image from the SD-OCT dataset and registering these images to corresponding color fundus photographs and mapping the delineated drusen area on each color fundus photograph.
Adaptive optics allows capturing
enface images of photoreceptors at near-histological resolution.
However, Oil Red O-positive areas of
enface aorta were significantly reduced in mice treated with AS or rosuvastatin, especially in the combination group.
Enface margin assessment, as maybe performed during Mohs microsurgery or during some intraoperative frozen sections, offers a still more-comprehensive assessment of margin status and may be particularly useful in cases in which tissue-sparing options are requisite.
