In the oil sample, seven sesquiterpenes (with % of oil weight) were identified: beta-elemene (48.19%), trans-caryophyllene (19.51%), epi-bicyclosesquiphellandrene (12.24%), gamma-elemene (4.44%), alpha-copaene (4.13%), alpha-humulene (3.32%), alloaromadendrene (2.45%); and two alcohols: (3.17%) spatulenol and (2.55%)
farnesol.
Inhibition of Candida albicans biofilm formation by
farnesol, a quorum-sensing molecule.
Farnesol, un compuesto organico, quimicamente clasificado como sesquiterpeno alcohol (figura 1), se ha investigado por aumentar la susceptibilidad a antibioticos (29).
Several theories that revolve around the following known actions of statins exist: reduction of metabolic intermediates such as mevalonic acid,
farnesol, geranylgeraniol, and ubiquinone; upregulation of apoptotic pathways; modification of chloride channel conductance; alteration of muscle membrane function; impairment of [Na.sup.+]/[K.sup.+]-ATPase and [Na.sup.+]/[Ca.sup.+]-AT-Pase pump function; and reduction in selenoprotein production.
Farnesol (a structural DSF analogue), on the other hand, exhibits antagonistic activity against tyrosol (41,42).
Heneicosane, nonadecane, pentacosane, cyclohexadecane, tricosene, docosane, eicosane compounds from hydrocarbons; palmitic acid, ethyl oleate, octadecanoic acid, decanedioic acid compounds from aliphatic acids and their esters; cinnamic acid, ferulic acid from cinnamic acids and their esters; pinostrobin chalcone, pinocembrin, chrysin compounds from flavonoids; [beta]-eudesmol, guaiol, 2-methoxy-4-vinylphenol, l-limonene, a-muurolene,
farnesol, Y-terpinene, [beta]-myrcene, a-pinene compounds from alcohols and terpenes; benzoic acid, propanoic acid, 3,4-dimethoxycinnamic acid compounds from aromatic acids; 2-nonadeca-none, 2-pentadecanone compounds from ketones were determined in the propolis sample by GC-MS.
The species produces an essential oil whose main components are [beta]-myrcene,
farnesol, limonene and myrcenal.
(1997) tested bisabolene,
farnesol, and geraniol as aphid repellents against M.
