Those analyses have revealed traces of gold and iron, along with rarer minerals such as kamacite, schreibersite, taenite, and
troilite. Now we can add edscottite to that list.
Traces of rare minerals have also been found, including taenite,
troilite, kamacite and schreibersite.
Diogenites, which formed in magma chambers deep in Vesta's crust, are composed mostly of orthopyroxene and hypersthene, with smaller amounts of olivine, plagioclase,
troilite, and chromite.
The most cited monosulfides are tetragonal mackinawite, hexagonal
troilite, monoclinic pyrrhotite, and hexagonal pyrrhotite, all which are relatively stable in oxygen-free acid media [21-23].
Sulphur isotope values are reported as relative to the Vienna Canyon Diablo
Troilite (VCDT) in terms of a [delta][.sup.34][S.sub.VCDT][per thousand] and the sulphate oxygen isotope values are reported as relative to the Vienna Standard Mean Ocean Water (VSMOW) in terms of [delta][.sup.18]O.

Troilite (VCDT) standard.
The isotope values were expressed as parts per thousand or per mil ([per thousand]) or 5 deviation from the internationally recognized standards, VPDB, atmospheric N, VCDT (Vienna Canyon Diablo
Troilite), V-SMOW (Vienna-Standard Mean Ocean Water) (Groning 2004) for C, N, S and O, respectively.

Instruments on the rover, including its Mossbauer spectrometer, show the rocks are stony, but also contain iron-bearing minerals present in meteorites found on Earth, such as kamacite and
troilite.
