To calculate, a technician has only three options: weight, superheat or
subcool. The proper method is determined by the system's design and the manufacturer's specifications.
To prove the concept, a TE subcooler was designed and fabricated to
subcool the C[O.sub.2] exiting the gas cooler of a transcritical VCC.

The condenser provides genuine counter-current flow, which makes it possible to
subcool the non-condensable gases better than in a comparable shell-and-tube installation and, in return, reduces the load on the vacuum pump.
Make ice during off-peak hours when electricity rates are low and use it during peak daytimes hours to
subcool liquid refrigerant, thereby lowering kilowatt demand when electricity costs are high.
The purpose of the feed line subcooler (FLSC) of economizer 13 is to
subcool liquid before the TXV of economizer while superheating vapour in the suction line.
The refrigerant of the small chiller is used to
subcool the refrigerant of the main chiller in the subcooler.
On the other hand, a high flow rate of refrigerant makes it impossible to take in sufficient low-temperature air to
subcool the refrigerant, thus lowering the degree of subcooling.
The liquid refrigerant that leaves the receiver (P4, Figure 2) is divided into two currents: the main one, which flows to the evaporator through the subcooler (P5, Figure 2) and the secondary one, which is expanded by a thermostatic expansion valve to the interstage pressure (P10, Figure 2) and used to
subcool the main refrigerant current (by evaporating the refrigerant in the subcooler).
* VAV minimums set too high will
subcool the space, causing occupants to complain, or worse, run space heaters.
Supplying the minimum ventilation rate to meet either Standard 62.1 or California codes, at 55[degrees]F (13[degrees]C) to control latent loads elsewhere), will likely
subcool the space.
(7) By incorporating a separate, small refrigeration loop to
subcool the liquid refrigerant from the condenser halfway to the evaporating temperature, a portion of the refrigeration load is handled at a higher evaporating temperature and EER.
